Roswell lacks a main, go-to spot for great tasting, affordable, and authentic Greek food. Now, there is. Gyro City Grill is a new family restaurant that specializes in Greek cuisine. They are located at 1475 Holcomb Bridge Rd. Roswell in the Holcomb 400 shopping center, the same shopping center as LA Fitness.

With fresh ingredients, a wide variety of dishes and desserts and a lively atmosphere, this new restaurant brings a lot to the table.  Their main goals are to create an environment that encompasses the feel of being at Greece, while also emphasizing the family business tradition, and authenticity throughout their dishes.

During my visit, I was intrigued with the interior of the place. The paintings and decorations around the restaurant create a true Greek feel. The area is very spacious with both inside and outside seating. It serves as a great place to enjoy some great food with friends and family.

Just like the atmosphere, the food is great and authentic as well. My order consisted of “The largest and best Gyro in town, Award winning”, french fries, chicken souvlaki on a stick served with toasted pita bread and tzatziki sauce along with a free sample platter of beets, hummus, pasta salad, chickpeas, and two additional soups.

The Gyro was by far my favorite dish. It had fresh ingredients, the meat was great quality, and their signature tzatziki sauce completed the overall taste. The fries were good as well, but nothing too great. They were crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside, but they were not anything special. The chicken souvlaki on a stick was my second favorite dish. The chicken was seasoned very well, and it tasted great with the pita bread and sauce.  The sample platter was alright. The pasta salad and hummus was good. However, I personally am not a fan of beets and chickpeas.

The Gyro was $9.95 ($12.95 with a side). The chicken souvlaki cost $5.45. The pricing may seem a little higher than expected, but the portions and taste make the food well worth it.
