Girls and Boys tennis finish impressive season with deep playoff runs

The girls and boys tennis teams were on fire this season, both advancing to the Quarterfinals of the GHSA playoffs. The girl’s team had a great regular season, finishing at the top of their region for the 2nd year in a row. The girls cruised past Harrison (3-1) in the first round and Gainesville (3-0) in the second round. The boy’s team also beat Harrison in the first round (3-2) and beat Alexander (3-0) in the second round. Both the girls and the boy’s team traveled to Coffee County Thursday for the Elite Eight matchup on April 26.

The boy’s team are led by seniors Andrew Myer, Jonah Bergman, Zach Armbruster, Tai Robie, and Cooper Edmondson. After a run to the Final Four last year, the team is well experienced and prepared for a deep playoff run again.

Myer said, “Having last year’s experience in the playoffs we believe that we have a real shot to make it far this year, but we have to take it one match at a time.”

This has worked well for the team so far as they have been rolling past teams this year, and this trend has continued in the playoffs. The boys traveled to Coffee County on Friday and lost by a score of 3-2 to a very talented Coffee team. Their playoff run comes to an end after a very successful season.

The girl’s team has been on a tear this season, too. Led by seniors Anna Smith, Jordan Alexis, and Sarah Ahmed, the girls are also looking to make a deep run into the playoffs. The seniors on this team are well experienced, making it to the Final Four last year where they lost to Cambridge. The girl’s team also played at Coffee County on Friday. The girls won their match by a score of 3-1 and played Cambridge in the GHSA Semifinals on April 30 where they lost by a score of 3-0. Congratulations to the girls on another very impressive season.
